Discovery Challenge Thrusts (DCTs)

This is a special BAA in support of the AFOSR’s Discovery Challenge Thrusts (DCTs).

AFOSR invites proposals for research in the areas described in detail in the announcement.

The schedule for this announcement is given in Section II, Award Information (see BAA).This research effort will

consist of interdisciplinary teams of researchers with the skills needed to address the relevant research challenges necessary to meet the program goals.

Multi investigator teaming is encouraged but not required.

It is expected that proposals will describe cutting-edge efforts on basic scientific problems.

The duration of the proposed effort is three years.

Multiple awards are anticipated.

The amount of resources made available to this BAA will depend on the quality of proposals received and the availability of funds, but probably will not exceed $3M/year – approximately $1M/year for each of the three topic areas listed below.

For further information on Program Scope, see individual topic write-ups in announcement.

Proposers are highly encouraged to confer with the appropriate program manager as soon as possible.

The contact information for each of the three technical areas can also be found at the end of each section.

White Papers briefly summarizing your ideas and why they are different from what others are doing are highly encouraged, but not required (5 page limit).

Coordination with the Air Force Research Laboratory is encouraged but not required.************* The FULL ANNOUNCEMENT is available on the Grants.gov website by scrolling to the top of the synopsis page and clicking on the "FULL ANNOUNCEMENT" box surrounded by the dotted line at the top of the page.
