RELO Budapest has already conducted Phase 1 of its ongoing blended Media English (i.e.
English for Journalists) course development project.
Regarding the coming phases for which the current call for applications is open:
Over the course of the 2014/2015 academic year (October 2014 through
June 2015), the ten RELO Budapest selected English language and media educators from across Central and Eastern Europe will continue to collaborate with RELO Budapest on the development of this blended Media English (i.e.
English for Journalists) course, which will be piloted with journalists and students of journalism in the spring of 201 5. Ten U. S. Embassies are participating in this pilot project.
These are Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Romania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Latvia, Slovakia, Belarus, Ukraine.In close consultation with RELO Budapest, the grantee will administer the entire remaining part of this Media English project.
First the grantee will arrange a follow-up materials development conference for the blended course developers for January 11-24, 2015 in Budapest, Hungary.
In addition, apart from funding the ten content developers to the TESOL ( www.tesol.org ) conference in the U. S. in 2016 and other project-related programs and expenses detailed below herein for the 2014/2015 academic year, as added incentive to participate, the grantee will organize for the top performing journalist-participant in each country a two-week fellowship at the Voice of America (VOA) in Washington, DC in the summer of 201 5. In addition, the grantee will arrange for the content developers to take a U. S. State Department E-Teacher course in English for Specific Purposes or Computer-Assisted Language Learning between the end of the 2014/2015 academic year and the end of the overall program period.In order to further enhance the content of the course, the grantee, in consultation with RELO Budapest, will also invite VOAs Learning English Director to Budapest to support a January 11-24 course development conference in 201 5. Part of the project is the recording, editing and publication of program-related videos and assistance in developing and hosting the program website.
