Limited Competition: Renewal of Aging Intervention Testing Program (U01)

Purpose.

This limited competition is to continue the Aging Intervention Testing Program (ITP) cooperative agreement program.The ITP was designed to test, under standardized conditions at multiple sites, putative interventions with potential to extend lifespan and health span in a mammalian model.

Three


awards were made under RFA-AG-02-005, funding the three sites performing testing of candidate compounds.



Mechanism of Support.

This FOA will utilize the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cooperative agreement (U01) grant mechanism.





Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.

The NIA intends to commit $ 2. 5 millionbeginning in FY2009 and $1 2. 5 million across all years to fund up to three awards over a five year period of support.
