Education Programs of Excellence in Scientifically Validated Behavioral Treatment (R25)

Purpose.The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support curriculum development to train clinician-scientists who can develop, test, and rapidly translate into practice innovative learning-based treatments in the addictive and mental disorders.

skilled in both clinical practice and clinical research.The goals in establishing the Programs of Excellence Award are to recognize and enhance current clinical training programs that teach and develop research-based clinical practices and to provide a model for clinician education nationwide.



Mechanism of Support.This FOA will utilize the NIH Research Education (R25) award mechanism.



Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.The NIMH intends to commit approximately $250,000 in FY 2009 to fund up to 7 awards in response to this FOA.The NIDA intends to commit approximately $200,000 to fund up to 5 awards.Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
