Herron’s Nonprofit Displays Minimal Output since Its $900,000 2008 Grant Award

According to records checked by The City Paper, the Ned McWherter Center for Rural Development spearheaded by former state senator, Roy Herron, shows only minimal efforts when it comes to rewarding scholarships to students in Tennessee.


The Center helmed in a $900,000 state grant in 2008. But, the Center's activity has slowed down ever since. Having more than a million in assets, the Center only bestowed students $35,750 scholarship grants in 2011.
