State Rep Bribed for a State Grant

Illinois’s State Representative Derrick Smith was allegedly caught accepting a $7,000 bribe from a federal informant who posed as an owner of a daycare center applying for a state grant.


Smith got arrested and charged for bribery before the primary election in March. Smith was urged and refused to resign after having won the primary.
