Vernon Town Officials and Education Board in Dispute over State Grants

The Town of Vernon administration officials and Vernon Board of Education are in dispute over a $128,500 in grant funding, which the Board of Education was unable to get for school construction projects.


Board members clearly did not agree with the town officials' comprehension of the state's intent during a Board of Education meeting on June 10. Board member David Kemp quoted a letter from the Brian Mahoney, CFO of the State Board of Education, which said "the town must turn over the new share grant money to the local board of education...and that's what should happen."
