Iola BonggayThe Federal Emergency Management Agency, otherwise known as FEMA, is an agency operating under the United States Department of Homeland Security.
FEMA was established to coordinate the response to intense disasters that become overwhelming to the resources of local and state authorities.
Apart from that, FEMA also provides supports to state and local government by sending in experts in specialized fields associated with disaster control and management, and also offers funding to be used in rebuilding efforts and relief funds for infrastructures.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has recently proposed to enter into a cooperative agreement entitled Earthquake and Building Science Program Implementation with the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc.(FLASH).
This cooperative agreement is designed to support the effective outreach, stakeholder partnership, and implementation of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) mission and other risk reduction and earthquake resilience-related activities.
FEMA has an anticipated budget of $410,000 for its cooperative agreement with FLASH. The aforementioned funds will then be used to organize and implement activities that show direct support to NEHRP's mission and responsibilities.
