Department of Agriculture’s (USDA), Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) has approximately $1 0. 576 million, contingent upon the availability of funds, in Fiscal Year (FY) 2010 for a competitive grant to test the effectiveness of pilots designed to increase low-income elderly participation in

the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP; formerly the Food Stamp Program).

A notice of intent to apply is due on May 14, 201 0. The period of performance should not extend beyond September 30, 201 3. Please review the application for additional information about this program.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
This program is open the the 51 State Agencies that administer SNAP (50 States and the District of Columbia).

State Agencies may apply on behalf of county administered SNAP agencies that wish to operate a pilot.

If a county-administered SNAP agency applies for a grant, the grant application must display the potential for statewide implementation and contain a letter of support from the appropriate State agency.
