USAID uses an Annual Program Statement (APS) to generate competition for awards when the Agency intends to support a variety of creative approaches and activities that contribute to the attainment of its strategic objectives.

The overall goal of USAID’s Strengthening Transparent and Accountable Governance in Georgia through Direct Awards to Georgia’s Civil Society Organizations APS is to support activities of non-governmental organizations to increase civil society engagement and government transparency and accountability on key governance and policy issues.

Strong democratic institutions and participatory, accountable governance are crucial elements for improving peoples’ lives in a sustainable way.

To achieve this goal, USAID intends to issue multiple awards under this APS to applicants who address the following objective:
strengthen civil society engagement in governance and policy development processes that promote government transparency, accountability and access to information.

This APS has been designed to seek relationships beyond traditional USAID norms by encouraging submissions from local partner organizations, including those who have never received direct funding from USAID.

Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide grants of up to $250,000 with durations of up to 36 months related to transparent and accountable governance.
