The purpose of this funding is to address multiple forms of violence impacting adolescents and young adults, particularly in communities with high rates of violence, by implementing prevention approaches with an emphasis on the outer levels of the social-ecological model (i.e., community/societal levels).
PREVAYL
requires recipients to implement community/societal level strategies and approaches that address multiple forms of violence impacting adolescents and young adults, develop and/or enhance a jurisdictional violence prevention strategic plan, develop and implement an evaluation plan, develop a sustainability plan, and participate in a multi-sector coalition.
In addition, this funding will address risk factors such as social determinants of health (e.g., concentrated poverty, limited educational/employment opportunities) and racial inequity (e.g., structural, systemic, and institutional racism).
