Sister Ports Program: Bolstering Economic and Security Resilience in Foreign Ports

The Sister Ports Program aims to facilitate the sharing of best practices in port security and sustainable development by providing international and domestic ports with an opportunity to visit with each other and build relationships between commercial and government actors.

The program will pair

credit:


a foreign port with a U. S. port of a similar size, function, or strategic interest.

This program will introduce ports to new trade relationships, U. S. government partners, and trusted maritime technology and industry representatives.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
