The Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues (S/GWI) announces an open competition for organizations to submit full proposal applications to carry out a project that will outlining concepts and capacity to manage a program, Women for PEACE, that will advance women’s meaningful participation

as decision-makers and leaders in track 1 and 1. 5 conflict mediation and negotiation processes, ensuring they represent their communities, contribute their expertise and lived experiences, and are supported with the necessary resources to advance formal negotiations, shape final agreements, and promote lasting peace.

This mechanism seeks to empower women as equal partners in conflict prevention, peace building, transitional processes, and reconstruction efforts in countries affected by conflict or in political transition.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
