The purpose of the PIM grant program is to identify, support, and rigorously evaluate evidence-based and innovative strategies and activities to improve and modernize career and technical education (CTE) and ensure workforce skills taught in CTE programs funded under the Carl D.

Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as amended by the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V), align with labor market needs.

Eligible Applicants: The following entities are eligible to apply under this competition:(a) An eligible entity.

(b) An eligible institution.(c) An eligible recipient.

Note: An eligible entity must comply with the regulations in 34 CFR 75.127 through 75.129, which address group applications.

Rural Applicants: To qualify as a rural applicant under section 114(e)(5)(A) of Perkins V, an applicant must meet Absolute Priority 3.Note: For the purposes of meeting the statutory rural set-aside, an applicant must meet the requirements as listed above and provide the necessary locale codes in its grant application.

Applicants are encouraged to retrieve locale codes from the NCES School District search tool (https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/districtsearch/), where districts can be looked up individually to retrieve locale codes.
