FY10 Rail Spur Extension, Greater Ouachita Parish, LA

The proposed project is for the Greater Ouachita Port Commission (GOPC) which is a political subdivision of the State of Louisiana.

The port facility is located at the intersection of Coleman Avenue and Valley Road in West Monroe, Louisiana.

The current facility contains approximately

twenty acres, and includes a rail spur with working apron, approximately four acres of hard surface container storage areas, and a pile supported concrete river dock facility, a railside/dockside interconnecting access road, and various container handling equipment.

In 2004 the GOPC completed construction of a 1,300-foot rail spur with a hard surface railside working apron.

The proposed project consists of tying into the existing rail spur with additional railroad track for the purpose of transporting cargo at the port.

The project includes construction of 5,910 feet of rail, ballast, rail ties, and related items.
