FY17 Penn-Farley Complex - Farley Building Loading Dock Reconstruction Project, MSDC

The Grantee will construct three new loading docks that will be partly recessed within the building envelope of the Farley Building.

The current loading dock is only twenty-five feet from the 31st Street sidewalk.

This requires any delivery to block traffic while backing in and unloading.

The

new loading dock design is recessed within the building footprint eliminating this traffic conflict.

Shifting the loading docks will eliminate their interference with 31st Street and the sidewalk, smoothing traffic flow along 31st Street, reducing congestion and minimizing dwell times and air pollution caused by a back-up of vehicles blocked by truck loading.
