collaboration allows applicants to submit one application to leverage complementary Federal funding sources to support the development and implementation of a regionally driven economic development strategy that accelerates job creation by encouraging re-shoring of productive activity by U. S. firms, fostering increased Foreign Direct Investment, encouraging U. S. companies to keep or expand their businesses—and jobs— in the United States, and training local workers to meet the needs of those businesses.

Federal support for the Make it in America Challenge is expected to be used to fund up to 15 projects, each with a project period of up to 3 years.

If, however, a project includes EDA-funded construction, that component of the project may have a project period of up to five years.

The funding level of each participating Federal Agency will vary, subject to the availability of their respective appropriations.
