Developing Historical Sites

NCSHPO and the NPS will engage jointly in a number of activities related to methodologies, technologies, and techniques for protecting and preserving cultural resources.

Review of the National Register and National Historic Landmark nominations; the microfilming, digitization, and transfer of


information, tax credit program assistance; the preparation of HABS/HAER/HALS documentation, GIS data survey and development, teaching with Historic Places lesson plans.

A Gilesgate-based shop and community facility, Hexham’s Core Music, launches a separate workshop where up to six people will be trained how to repair guitars and make ukuleles. The European Social Fund grant supported the project and has secured funds through the County Durham Communication Foundation to equip the workshop in Burn Lane.
