Purpose.
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), Fogarty International Center (FIC) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH)
encourages the Extramural Associates Research Development Award (G11) grant mechanism applications from institutions that wish to strengthen an existing research administrative infrastructure for the purpose of enhancing and supporting biomedical and behavioral research capacity and activities.
This program will provide training in NIH policies and procedures through a distance learning and NIH residency program, as well as funding to augment or expand upon existing research administrative infrastructure (e.g., Office of Research, Office of Sponsored Projects).
The expanded program will provide thorough oversight and administrative management of extramural awards, serve as the main organizational unit for the technical development of grant proposals submissions and oversight, and foster and facilitate ongoing research activities at the institution.
Mechanism of Support.
This FOA will utilize the Extramural Associates Research Development Award (G11) grant mechanism.
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards.
Awards issued under this FOA are contingent upon the availability of funds and the submission of a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary.
The total amount awarded and the number of awards will depend upon the mechanism numbers, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.
