Jordan, one of the five driest countries in the world, is facing an historic water crisis and is currently in the process of publicly debating how to respond.
However, its public debate over solutions, including a regional energy-for-water deal, a National Conveyance Project to desalinate Red
Sea water and pump it north, and others, is hampered by a dearth of sound journalistic reporting on climate-water-economy issues and rampant misinformation.
This program would address these challenges by supporting a cohort of influential journalists and other public communicators to help better inform the public about Jordan’s climate and water challenges and their implications for the economy and viability of the country.
