Community Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (Community PMTCT)

The purpose of this program is to define the parameters and objectives for a new Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) program to improve the uptake and quality of HIV and Maternal Child Health (MCH) services for pregnant women in Ethiopia through community-based approaches.

goals of the program are to strengthen community systems and structures to improve the well-being of HIV positive pregnant women, their families and prevent the spread of HIV to their children.

The program also aims to follow-up HIV exposed babies and HIV positive mothers to ensure they receive appropriate care and treatment.
