Implementation of the Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS) (U18)

The intended outcome of this FOA is to advance efforts for a nationally integrated feed safety system by assisting State feed regulatory programs to achieve and maintain full implementation of the Animal Feed Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS).

The AFRPS Cooperative Agreement will provide

funding for State feed regulatory programs that maintain a FDA feed safety inspection contract to develop and implement the standards; develop and maintain best practices; enhance feed safety; and better direct their regulatory activities at reducing foodborne illness attributed to feed safety hazards in facilities that manufacture, process, pack, or hold animal feed materials/supplies.

In addition, this cooperative agreement will provide options of funding for laboratories that support animal feed programs and are pursuing accreditation under the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005
