SSA Protection and Advocacy Program

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announces the availability of grant funds to continue for twelve months existing Protection and Advocacy Program projects whose current Budget Period ends November 30, 200 8. These grants are authorized by the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement

Act (TWWIIA) of 1999 (Reauthorized by the Social Security Protection Act of 2004).

The purpose of this program is to provide individuals with disabilities who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, information and advice about obtaining vocational rehabilitation and employment services.

The purpose is also to provide advocacy or other services that beneficiaries with a disability may need to secure, maintain, or regain gainful employment.
