The NIH is the leading United States Federal agency that is primarily responsible for pursuing most of the country's biomedical and health-related research.
The programs and activities of the NIH are constantly guided by their overall mission which is to "seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce the burdens of illness and disability."
In line with this mission, the National Institutes of Health, in close cooperation with the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), has established a program entitled Rheumatic Diseases Research Core Centers Project wherein they intend to solicit applications for the development of Research Core Centers concentrating on rheumatic diseases.
The Rheumatic Diseases Research Core Centers (RDCC) project will be sharing its facilities with a group of eligible and established investigators/researchers in order to address the issues involving rheumatic diseases while simultaneously working towards improving the efficiency and quality of research studies that are being and will be conducted.
The RDCC Program will adopt the following areas in their research studies:
