CISE’s Division of Computing and Communication Foundations (CCF) supports research and education projects that develop new knowledge in three core programs:
- The Algorithmic Foundations (AF)program;
- The Communications and Information Foundations (CIF)program; and
- The
credit:
Software and Hardware Foundations (SHF)program.
Proposers are invited to submit proposals intwo project classes, which are defined as follows:
- Small Projects - up to $500,000 total budget with durations up to three years; and
- Medium Projects - $500,001 to $1,200,000 total budget with durations up to four years.

CCF proposals must be in the Small or Medium classes only.

Additional Information of Eligibility:*Who May Submit Proposals: Proposals may only be submitted by the following: -Non-profit, non-academic organizations: Independent museums, observatories, research labs, professional societies and similar organizations in the U. S. associated with educational or research activities.
-Universities and Colleges - Universities and two- and four-year colleges (including community colleges) accredited in, and having a campus located in, the US acting on behalf of their faculty members.
Such organizations also are referred to as academic institutions.
*Who May Serve as PI: PIs, co-PIs or other senior project personnel must hold primary, full-time, paid appointments in research or teaching positions at US-based campuses/offices of eligible organizations.
