Developing professional training programs to increase capacity for effective global health response to humanitarian emergencies

This FOA supports the implementation of programs and activities targeted at increasing the capacity of humanitarian partners to improve the health of populations affected by humanitarian emergencies and conflict settings.

Its purpose is to increase the number of trained humanitarian professionals,

through the development of didactic and experiential training programs in public health response.

Projects should consider the development, implementation and evaluation of programs that are inexpensive, widely accessible, public health-focused, and innovative in their approaches to maximize their potential impact.

Additional Information of Eligibility:
The specific emphasis on humanitarian training in health emergencies specified in this grant requires that a successful grantee have substantial global health experience and begin work immediately upon receipt of the award.

CDC/CGH/DGHP/ERRB considers that this can only be accomplished by an institution of higher learning with a school of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (http://ceph.org/).

A letter from applicants verifying this accreditation is required.
