The recipient of this five-year funding opportunity will offer to residents of Libby and Troy, Montana meeting eligibility criteria, health screening for asbestos related disease, health education, and outreach.
Libby, Montana was the site of a vermiculite mining and processing operation for much
credit:
of the twentieth century.
Because Libby vermiculite contains asbestos, vermiculite workers and other residents were exposed to asbestos.
Community-based health screening for asbestos-related abnormalities has been conducted in Libby under several programs beginning in 200 0. The program described in this NOFO builds upon previous programs and extends a program begun in 2011 under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
This program will provide screening, health education, and outreach services for residents and former residents of a geographic area subject to declared public health emergencies under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), such as residents of Libby and Troy, Montana.
This is regarding the non-research grant for the next funding cycle or continuation for ACA screening.
