The USFWS’s Youth in Natural Resource Careers initiative has a core need of encouraging and developing young people with the appropriate skill sets and interests to become conservation professionals.

TWS has a fundamental interest in supporting the professional development of wildlife students and will align this interest with the Department’s initiative by employing interns to work with TWS and USFWS; encouraging diversity by sponsoring Native American wildlife students to attend TWS’ annual conference; facilitating a blue ribbon panel that will study emerging trends in and challenges to the wildlife profession and implications for training needs of future wildlife professionals; and supporting the TWS annual conference – the largest gathering of wildlife professionals on the North American continent, and a significant venue where students and professionals come together to share cutting edge research and to debate important issues.
