The National Park Service (NPS) is actively engaged in recruiting and training the next generation of visitors, advocates, and employees by providing fun and educational opportunities for participating youth.
In particular, NPS is focusing on engaging a more diverse cross-section of America by
providing more opportunities for youth from economically challenged and ethnically diverse communities.
The strategy includes paid internship opportunities for youth from 18-25 years old who join NPS staff for three to six months and learn about the natural and cultural histories of the park while working with NPS staff on a wide variety of tasks, as well as a variety of shorter unpaid opportunities for youth <18 years old.
This announcement is for youth programs at North Cascades NPS Complex and San Juan Island National Historical Park, both in Washington State, for the summer of 201 3. Awards authorized by Public Land Corps will require a cost match from the cooperator; others will not.
