Business Excellence for Sustainability and Transparency (BEST) Phase II Activity

The USAID Business Excellence for Sustainability and Transparency (BEST) Phase II Activity will further advance key elements of the original activity and incorporate new elements to improve long-term sustainability of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector.

BEST Phase II will work


more closely with Mongolian government entities and civil society organizations (CSOs), providing training and capacity building so they can more effectively advise SMEs.

In addition, BEST Phase II will include a component to work with SMEs directly to improve their energy efficiency and environmental sustainability to improve their overall competitiveness.

Similar to BEST, the goal of BEST Phase II is to build the capacity of SMEs so they can more powerfully serve as an engine for Mongolia’s economic growth and diversification.

Best Phase II will Improve capacity of Mongolian institutions;Improve corporate governance of SMEs; andImprove energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of SMEs.

Eligible Applicants• Alumni who participated in a U. S. government-sponsored exchange program.

• Alumni Associations.Eligibility requirements• The proposed project identifies and supports Mission priorities through public service-oriented activities.• The proposed project involves at least two U. S. Government-sponsored exchange program alumni and needs to specify a team lead.

(All alumni involved in the project will need to be identified as well as verified by post prior to submission of the project proposal.

Any non-alumni team members need to be included as well.)• Applications from Alumni Associations will need to specify a team lead.• U. S. citizen alumni may be included on alumni teams; however, the team must have at least two non-U. S. citizen exchange program alumni.

U. S. citizen alumni cannot be team leads on projects.
