The Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED), a certified-CDFI, was established in 1976. MACED is a comprehensive community development organization providing financial and business development services to an investment area consisting of 51 predominantly rural Appalachian counties in the eastern region of Kentucky.

FA (2009) - $2,000,000

The Mountain Association for Community Economic Development, Inc. (MACED) is a certified CDFI established in 1976. MACED offers small business and economic development loans, training, and counseling to new and expanding businesses within a fifty-nine county target market comprised of Appalachian Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia. MACED will use its FY09 Financial Assistance award to increase lending in its target market.



FA (2008) - $1,098,698

The Mountain Association for Community Economic Development, Inc. (MACED) is a certified CDFI established in 1976. MACED serves the Central Appalachian region through policy research, demonstration products and deployment of capital. MACED will use the 2008 Financial Assistance award of $1,000,000 as lending capital. The 2008 Technical Assistance grant of $98,698 will pay for support of the expanded service area including: 1) personnel salary and fringe benefits for a new staff person; 2) travel; 3) new equipment; 4) market research subscription service; and 5) procurement of professional services to conduct market research and produce marketing materials.



TA (2007) - $98,465

Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) is a certified CDFI established in 1981. MACED provides microloans and small business loans to an investment area in Appalachian Kentucky. MACED will use its FY07 Technical Assistance grant to: 1) obtain consulting services to design and implement a technology-based microlending platform; and 2) pay a portion of staff salary and fringe benefits for the loan fund manager and director of finance and operations; 3) implement the microlending platform; and 4) attend training to gain a better understanding of the CDFI industry.



FA (2006) - $585,000

Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) is a certified CDFI established in 1976. It provides comprehensive financial and business development services to an investment area consisting of 51 predominantly rural Appalachian counties in eastern Kentucky. MACED received a Financial Assistance Award of $577,500 to enhance their delivery of services to small and micro-businesses; and a Technical Assistance Award in the amount of $7,500 to obtain consulting services to conduct a market need assessment of southwestern Virginia and West Virginia.



TA (2004) - $48,100

The Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED) will use the award to obtain: consulting services to develop new strategies and products related to small business loans; staff and board training in small business lending; and computer technology for staff.



CORE (2002) - $500,000

A CDFI Fund grant of $500,000 will assist this CDFI to expand its volume of small business lending.



SECA (2000) - $52,000

The CDFI Fund"s technical assistance grant will improve MACED"s technological infrastructure, support staff training and help it develop a community impact assessment methodology.



SECA (1999) - $50,000

The technical assistance award will be used for staff training and to purchase computer equipment.



SECA (1998) - $25,000

Support from the CDFI Fund will assist MACED in strengthening its equity investment program. Funds will be used to provide training to staff in venture capital investments and to organize an investment advisory committee.
